Prosser OHV Trailhead
This is another parking and assembly area that accesses the great East Slope country. And it’s only minutes from Truckee.
Both natural and timber harvest openings provide play areas in the deep snow.
A groomed trail does lead north to connect to Little Truckee Summit which in turn leads to numerous groomed trails.
DESCRIPTION:
Prosser Hill tops out at 7171 feet elevation and the Sagehen Hills climb up Carpenter Ridge to over 8700.’ Both natural and timber harvest openings provide play areas in the deep snow.
None of the roads in the high country have groomed trails so deep, soft snow is the biggest challenge. A groomed trail does lead north to connect to Little Truckee Summit which in turn leads to numerous groomed trails.
Prosser parking is paved and accommodates 15 vehicles with trailers. Restrooms and unloading ramps are provided.

DIRECTIONS:
To Prosser OHV Trailhead
Drive north of Truckee via Highway 89 for four miles. Turn left (west) up the access road to the parking area above the highway.
Topographic maps: East Slope -Winter Recreation or U.S.G.S. Hobart Mills, Independence Lake, & Truckee
ACTIVITIES:
Snowmobiling (Rating: Good)
Numerous roads fan out of the parking area, but only the trail north along Highway 89 to Little Truckee Summit is groomed. Unmarked roads will take skilled snowmobilers onto the snowy flanks of Prosser Hill or north to the Sagehen Hills.
Difficulty: The groomed trail is ranked Easiest. Most roads are More Difficult. Carpenter Ridge would be Most Difficult unless the snow is hard packed.
Mileage: 2-10+; your choice.
