This gentle, paved trail circles through a young plantation of pines planted by local Boy Scouts and the Tahoe National Forest in the early 1950s. Beforest reforesting by planting the pine seedlingss, the area was mostly a brush field following an early 1900s fire. The outstanding feature of the loop trail is a constructed platform overlook of the South Yuba Canyon and the Omega hydraulic diggins that began during the Gold Rush.
The trail is suitable for all ages and is designed for universal access and is a good trail for wheelchairs although a push returning up the gentle grade would most likely be appreciated.

The trail begins on the left side (west) of the Omega Rest Area paved parking section near the restrooms. The Rest Area is about 17 miles east of Nevada City along Highway 20.
This optional stop along the Yuba-Donner National Scenic Byway is a nice rest stop including restrooms and picnic tables.
An especially nice, short trail for wheelchairs or people using canes.
Nice stroll and nice place to take kids, just to short to be thought of as a "hike."
