Trailhead is above Squaw Valley below Emigrant Pass to the west. The description for dayhikes reads south, but long distance PCT Treckers hike north.
No bikes.
Views into Granite Chief Wilderness are awesome, but the 1000' drop to Whiskey Creek and the climb back up to the Sierra Crest takes the wind out of most of us. Continuing south along the Crest from there is also special. The view of Lake Tahoe from Twin Peaks is considered one of the best. The Pacific Crest Trail drops to the right (west) of Twin Peaks as you approach them, so if you want that view, stick with the Sierra Crest ridgeline until topping the Twins. Shuttle opportunities lying to the south: Alpine Ski Area via Five Lakes Basin, or Barker Pass 5.0 miles beyond Twin Peaks.
