Steady climb leads first by Grass Lake (fishing resident Brookies) and well above it, Wades Lake (fishing: resident Brookies). The four lakes can be done in a one day loop without difficulty. Traveling counter-clockwise from Wades to Jamison is the easiest. By continuing on the Jamison Creek Trail past Wades Lake turn-off, you can branch off to the Mount Washington trail or continue to the Sierra Crest. Once you reach the Sierra Crest, connection can be made to the Pacific Crest Trail or the Deer Lake OHV Route. Several options for loops or other destinations stems from there.

Topographic Map: Gold Lake. Follow signs from trailhead taking signed right fork after crossing Jamison Creek. Continue uphill and take signed trail to left (south) to Wade Lake. Using the Jamison-Wades Lake Connector starting near the outlet to Wades Lake, allows shortcut access to Jamison and Rock Lakes.
