Topographic Maps: Cisco Grove, English Mt. From trailhead parking, follow trail signs in preferred direction, either north (most popular by far) or south.
The trail is a good equestrian ride and trailers can be parked at the trailhead. But most equestrian users prefer riding in via the Round Lake Trail and the Carr Lake Trailhead.
There is no equestrian camping permitted in the Grouse Ridge Campground, but several undeveloped camping areas lie along the road to the campground. However, there is no water available in the campground or nearby areas.
The segment from the Grouse Ridge Campground to Shotgun Lake is good. But the link up to Upper Rock Lake is unrideable.
Heading south from the campground is ok but drops into a poor section. The Blue Lake Trail is the better way back to civilization but you should have a shuttle at the lower end.
Shorter segments are great when used from Grouse Ridge Campground. Going north to Shotgun Lake is one of the best around.
