Grouse Lookout Trail

DESCRIPTION:

Lookout is abandoned, but site offers terrific views especially at sunset. You can drive to within a couple hundred feet to the gate but it’s a short hike from the trailhead and only a bit longer hike (but more of a climb) from the campground. The post 9/11 unconventional Lookout paint job is worth photographing all by itself. Even the outhouse is worth a look. It’s really out there. You can enjoy the views without climbing up to the lookout. Given its state of disrepair you are advised not to climb up to the viewing platform.
