The pond is a remnant of hydraulic mining washing away the hillsides as part of mining the ancient riverbed that lay here eons ago.

DIRECTIONS:
To Brandy City Pond Trail
Topographic Map: Strawberry Valley. Follow Cal-Ida Road north. After 4.5 miles of narrow road with logging traffic at times, turn left (west) on dirt road 491 at the old mill site on the ridge. Follow for 1.9 miles to Road #491.6, turn right and follow 0.1 mile to historic Brandy City Pond.

Difficulty: Gentle Time: 1/2 hour
Nice stroll and nice place to take kids, just to short to be thought of as a "hike."
