Bear Flat Oak Trail

DESCRIPTION:

Follow the trail 200 feet to a viewing deck overlooking Bear Flat Oak.

Elevation: 2800'-2800'.

It's either not well marked, signed, or so minor you drive by the trailhead. We looked twice in 2005 and failed to find it

DIRECTIONS:

To Bear Flat Oak Trail

From Highway 193 in Georgetown, turn on Church Street which turns into Georgia Slide. Turn onto Mameluke down to West Canyon Creek. Go over the creek and follow the road 2.1 miles then turn right uphill onto Bottle Hill Road. Follow Bottle Hill Road 2.3 miles to a gravel path at the trailhead.

ACTIVITIES:

Hiking: Dayhikes (Rating: Good)

Difficulty: Easy Time: Longish drive, very, very short walk.

This is not a hike; just a pleasant stroll for only a few minutes. The draw is the peace and quiet and the view; so stop off if you're in the neighborhood.

The drive is over some rather rough dirt roads and will take over 30 minutes each way.
