Scotts Flat Reservoir


10 minutes east of Nevada City

   

DESCRIPTION:

The lake offers pleasant forested setting in foothills rolling up toward the mountains. 10 minutes east of Nevada City. Homes and the marina are on the south side and the campgrounds on the north. The road across the dam is gated; access from one side to the other is 15-30 minutes.

Normal Capacity 48,500 Acre Feet.

Elevation 3069’with year-round access. Primary season is April through November.

Scotts Flat Hiking Trail 1.2 miles, gentle, elevations 3080'-3100' year-round. Follows Nevada Irrigation Ditch from Scotts Flat Reservoir Dam northeast connecting the two campgrounds on the north side of the lake.


DIRECTIONS:

To Scotts Flat Reservoir

Take Highway 20 east out of Nevada City and 5 miles out (at the Five-Mile House Restaurant) turn right (south) on Scotts Flat Road and follow to lake.


ACTIVITIES:

Camping (Rating: Best)

2 privately operated campgrounds and picnic sites, store, boat ramp. Shaded forest down to the shoreline.

Fishing (Rating: Good)

Good for rainbows and warm water species. Brown trout and Kokanee also. Boat ramps on both sides of the lake.

Boating - Motorized (Rating: Exceptional)

No jets or Personal Water Crafts, two boat ramps, marina, rental craft.
The lake is a favorite of sailboat owners.

Flatwater paddlers enjoy the lake especially after the power boat seasons.
