DIRECTIONS:

To Smith Lakes (North Yuba River)

Access via the Deer Lake 4-Wheel Drive Route dropping down into Gold Valley, crossing Pauley Creek, and then climbing the ridge to the west and heading toward the Big Boulder Mine. Old road takes off to the right on the ridge and drops down to the lakes. See Lakes Basin Map.
