Independence Lake Campground

DESCRIPTION:

Independence Lake sits below Mount Lola, the highest but rather bland mountain in these parts. The lake is isolated and that much more enjoyable for it.

This rustic campground is operated by the Sierra Pacific Power Company which also operates the reservoir levels. The campgound sits next to the lake and the spillway(s).

You must register with the Caretaker. The Caretaker must approve any mutiple vehicles for all sites. There is an extra vehicle fee.

There are 20 sites, some suitable for small trailers. Fees required. The road into the lake is very rough and narrow and is a challenge for low-clearance vehicles or anyone pulling trailers. The boat ramp is gated, so car top boats work best. Although there is not a paved launch facility, there is a "natural" launch that is billed as "use at your own risk."
