The site serves as swimming access plus provides 4 primitive camping sites, tables, and pit toilet. Bring drinking water or purify river water.
Use of dredges for gold prospecting is presently only permitted on BLM lands above Overlook Point upriver to the National Forest boundary which is about a mile upriver of the South Yuba River Primitive Camping Area.

From signed parking and trailhead along road into South Yuba Campground, follow the South Yuba Trail for 0.5 mile veering right at signed intersection and follow old road another 0.5 mile along the small creek to Illinois Crossing.
