Located on the southeast shore are two 25-person and two 50-person campsites with tables, fire rings, and BBQs. Trailer dump station. Although the campground is not available for equestrian use, the nearby Commemorative Emigrant Trail is a favorite for horses and riders.
To Emigrant Group Campground
Travel 7 miles east of Truckee; take Hirschdale exit off I-80 and follow signs to the Reservoir. Continue beyond Boca Reservoir for about seven miles to the turnoff (left) to Stampede Reservoir. Good paved road. In 2003 the 25-person group campground rentsed for $63.25 per day, and the 50 person rents for $126.50.
