Dog Valley Dispersed Campground


   

DESCRIPTION:

This rustic campground is managed by the Toiyabe National Forest. Dog Valley is a pleasant valley with a large meadow surrounded by pines and firs just above the sagebrush hills of Nevada.


Dog Valley, received its name from packs of dogs that used to run wild there. It is a beautiful oasis in the desert. Trees, meadows and steams make up Dog Valley's landscape creating a cool and refreshing atmosphere.

DIRECTIONS:

To Dog Valley Dispersed Campground

To access from Verdi:


1. From the "Entering the Toiyabe Forest" sign, follow the 002 Road approximately 7 miles to the 038 Road.


2. Turn left on the 038 Road then follow the sign to Dog Valley Campground. You can camp in any of the dispersed camping areas.


To access from the Truckee area follow the roads to Stampede Reservoir. Continue by the Reservoir turnoff until you reach the end of the paved road. Turn right on S860 road which follows the historic Henness Pass Road. Continue east until reaching the crest of the ridge and look for the 038 Road on the left. Turn and follow it down into Dog Valley.
